Places to visit in or around Cape Town

We know how important it is to get out and about and enjoy some fresh air but when it comes to differently abled children this can be a bit challenging as some more planning is required.   We have put together a list of places from personal recommendations from our Friends Day Centre Family and Centre outings that accommodate our specially abled learners.  All places listed below are within the Mother City and wheelchair friendly.

The Play Shed

The Play Shed is situated just up the road from Friends Day Centre at the beautiful Oude Moulen Eco Village in Alexandra Road, Pinelands. The Play Shed has a secure indoor & outdoor play area. Suitable for the younger children aged 7 months to 12 years

Eagle Encounters is a wildlife rehabilitation, conservation, education and eco-tourism centre based at historic Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch. Eagle Encounters is wheelchair-friendly and can accommodate people with disabilities

Exotic Animal World formally known as Butterfly world is situated just off the N1 on Route 44 in Klapmuts, in-between Paarl and Stellenbosch. There are tropical gardens full of exotic birds, lemurs and iguanas.

The Alpaca Loom

One of the Capes hidden gems is The Alpaca Loom is just a short drive up the N1 before Paarl. Situated on a lush green farm on the Suid Agter Paarl Road.
