Eagle Encounters

Eagle Encounters is a wildlife rehabilitation, conservation, education and eco-tourism centre based at historic Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch.  

 
Eagle Encounters is wheelchair-friendly and can accommodate people with physical and/or mental disabilities, where you can enjoy sensory stimulation through personal encounters and spectacular interactive flying shows

Meeting the owls in the Owl nursery with one of the experienced handlers, here you can meet a Barn Owl or one of the Wood Owls. There are also the Spotted Eagle Owls who love meeting new people and love to get up close and personal too.

For the braver ones there is the  MAJESTIC EAGLES, here you can meet Wally the Wahlberg's Black Eagle or one of the Verreaux's Eagles. Not forgetting, Dragon, who is a calm, friendly Bearded dragon, he is a great hit with adults and kids alike, especially those who have never touched or held a Bearded Dragon before.

Receive a nice tight hug from the  2.5m long Red-tailed Boa Constrictor or visit the petting zoom and play with the chickens and piglets.

The nearest toilet facility is at the Spier Wine Centre which is approximately 200m away from Eagle Encounters and there is wheelchair access to the facility.

ENTRANCE FEES  (01 Nov 2021 - 31 Oct 2022):

Adults:  R90 pp
Students with ID:  R75 pp
Pensioners with ID:   R75 pp  
Children (ages 3 - 12): R70 pp

Entrance includes ALL interactive flying shows and all-day personal interactions with African Wood Owls, our famous dancing Barn Owls, Bengal Eagle Owls, snakes, Bearded Dragons, tortoises, rabbits, guinea pigs and more.  

PERSONAL ENCOUNTERS (not included in the entrance fee):

Meet Mick or Leo, the impressive Verreaux's Eagles:  R60 pp
